Lively discussion expected at sustainability workshops at Tamborine Mountain in May
The innovative Building Sustainable Small Business (BSSB) Free Workshop program will be coming to Tamborine Mountain in May, starting Wednesday May 28. Small business owners, operators and key staff from the Beechmont, Canungra, Tamborine Mountain and surrounding areas are encouraged to enrol.
The Tamborine Mountain series follows the success of the Beaudesert Free Workshop series that concludes in April. Owners, managers and key staff from 19 small businesses and enterprises have been participating in the Beaudesert workshop series.
“It’s great to see the lively and enthusiastic discussion that is happening at these workshops,” said Jan McGregor, BSSB program co-ordinator.
“A key response from participants has been the welcome opportunity to meet and network with other small business people and discover that many people are thinking along similar lines, trying to implement sustainability in their business,” said Ms McGregor.
The workshops offer a practical, down to earth approach to incorporating sustainability planning with regular business planning processes.
The Tamborine Mountain workshops are free and will be held on Wednesdays May 28, June 25 and July 30 at the Vonda Youngman Community Centre. Timing is currently scheduled for 6pm to 8pm but will be adjusted to suit participants. Enrolments are now open.
The topics will be:
Wednesday May 28 Mid-course correction: introducing sustainability to small business – What is sustainability and why is it important;
Wednesday June 25 Bringing Local Business and Economy Home – the local business and economic landscape in the community and region;
Wednesday July 30 Creating Your Own Sustainability Story – real life case studies and developing your own sustainability plan.
The program is also developing a sustainable business network and directory for the Scenic Rim Region and has a comprehensive Mentoring, Training and Leadership program available in addition to the Free Workshop program.
The Building Sustainable Small Business program is an Australian government-funded initiative under the Building Entrepreneurship in Small Business program and is jointly hosted by the Ethos Foundation and Scenic Rim Regional Council.
