Media Release - Sustainability workshops for small businesses prove popular |
|
The second workshop in the new Building Sustainable Small Business Free Workshop program will be held at the Centre, Beaudesert on Wednesday March 26 from 6pm to 8pm. The topic will be “Bringing Local Business and Economy Home” and will give participants the opportunity to look at the business and economic landscape in the local community and region; the impacts of the global economy; the rise of localisation; and developing relationships and collaboration.
Small business owners, operators and key staff are welcome to come along.
The first workshop held in February was very popular and looked at what the ingredients of a sustainable enterprise are; what emerging issues and threats business face; the benefits of sustainability for small business and strategies and methods for implementing sustainability.
“It is fantastic that this program is being welcomed by small business operators,” said Dr Sally MacKinnon, course presenter for the workshops. “Sustainability is a journey. It’s a process of change and adaptation that small business operators can learn and benefit from.”
The Free Workshop series is taking place in Beaudesert, Tamborine Mountain and Boonah during 2008 and is an Australian government-funded initiative under the Building Entrepreneurship in Small Business program and is jointly hosted by the Ethos Foundation and Beaudesert Shire Council.
The program is also developing a sustainable business network and directory and has a comprehensive Mentoring, Training and Leadership program available in addition to the Free Workshop program.
