Minimising business risks and costs - the focus of sustainability workshop
Small businesses will have an opportunity to gain an insight into minimizing their business risks and costs, and lightening their eco-footprint at a workshop on Resource Sustainability at the Ecovillage, Currumbin, on Wednesday 28 October.
The workshop is part of the popular Building Sustainable Small Business workshop program being conducted for the Southern Gold Coast region by the Ethos Foundation in partnership with Connecting Southern Gold Coast.
"This workshop will give people a practical understanding of the risks businesses face, especially with increasing energy and resource costs, and the opportunities and potential benefits of acting now," said Jan McGregor, program co-ordinator.
"We are also delighted that guest speaker, Martin Jackson, from the Ecovillage will be giving some insights into the challenges and successes the Ecovillage has faced, and an optional tour of the Ecovillage will be available after the workshop," said Ms McGregor.
The workshop will include the thought-provoking and entertaining DVD, "The Story of Stuff", providing a fact-filled look at the underside of our production and consumption patterns and the urgent need for change.
An introduction to the EcoBiz program and grants and incentives available to small business will be included.
Connecting Southern Gold Coast encourage businesses in the region from Currumbin Creek to Rainbow Bay to take part. Businesses outside this region are also welcome to attend.
The workshop will be held at the Village Hall, The Ecovillage, Currumbin, from 10am to 12.30pm, followed by the optional tour of the Ecovillage. Cost of $15 per person includes light refreshments and comprehensive sustainability planning resources.
The workshops are an Australian Government funded initiative under the Building Entrepreneurship in Small Business program with support also from Connecting Southern Gold Coast and the Ethos Foundation.
