Sustainability workshops for small businesses in Southern Gold Coast Region
Media Release

Creating a vibrant local living economy will be the focus of the first of three sustainability planning workshops for small business in the Southern Gold Coast region, starting Tuesday 6 October at the Eco Village, Currumbin from 10.00am to 12.30pm.

The workshops are part of the popular Building Sustainable Small Business program, designed specifically to help small business and enterprise become more resilient and prosperous by implementing practical hands-on sustainability planning including economic, environmental, social and cultural topics. “We have been running these workshops in neighboring regions for the past two years and the feedback from participants has been very positive with key benefits highlighted including the opportunity to gain a practical understanding of sustainability planning and discuss opportunities and challenges with other business people” said Jan McGregor, program co-ordinator.

“We are looking forward to bringing the workshops to the Southern Gold Coast area as this vibrant region will definitely create the environment for dynamic workshop content,” said Jan.

The workshops are facilitated by Dr Sally MacKinnon, sustainability educator with the Ethos Foundation and are an Australian Government funded initiative under the Building Entrepreneurship in Small Business program, with additional support from Connecting Southern Gold Coast.

Connecting Southern Gold Coast encourage businesses in the region from Currumbin Creek to Rainbow Bay to take part. Businesses from outside this region are also welcome to attend.

The workshops are happening on Tuesday 6 October, Wednesday 28 October and Tuesday 17 November from 10am to12.30pm at The Village Hall, the Ecovillage, Currumbin, with light refreshments and comprehensive workshop resources included.

A cost of $15 per workshop will help toward catering and workshop materials. Enrolments for the first workshop are open until Monday 5 October.
