Southern Gold Coast workshops

BSSB is delighted to be partnering with Connecting Southern Gold Coast to deliver a series of 3 workshops in October and November.

Connecting Southern Gold Coast would like to encourage any businesses in the region from Currumbin Creek to Rainbow Bay to take part.

Businesses and enterprises outside this region are also welcome to attend.

Tuesday 6 October: Local Living Economy – how a vibrant local economy builds successful small businessThere's a new story emerging about the limits to global industrialised economic systems and its called Local Living Economies (LLE) - find out the importance of a strong LLE, the benefits it can bring to the Southern Gold Coast region, and how your business can be part of it.

Wednesday 28 October: Resource Sustainability – minimising your business risks and costs and lightening your eco-footprintUnderstand the ecological and energy crisis, the risks to our businesses, the strengths and opportunities for action, and the potential benefits for your business.

Tuesday 17 November: Strategic Sustainability - how networking, collaboration and cooperation can leverage your business; the importance of developing resilience to upcoming threats (peak oil, climate change, resource insecurity); and the value of developing prosperity "beyond the bottom line" - another great opportunity to meet and collaborate with other small business operators.

Workshops include extensive sustainability planning resources.

Facilitated by Dr Sally MacKinnon, sustainablity educator.

Time: 10.00am to 12.30pm
Venue: The Eco Village, Currumbin

Cost: $15 per workshop toward catering, venue and workshop materials

Building Sustainable Small Business Workshops
A dynamic, interactive and practical workshop to help small business develop resilience and prosperity

EnviroIndustry Gold Coast - the region's peak representative body provided the wider business community with an opportunity to take part in one of two full day workshops aimed at understanding the growing need to build business around the principles and practices of strategic sustainability.
The workshops were developed in collaboration with the Ethos Foundation's Building Sustainable Small Business program.

  • Introduction to sustainability and practical business tools for successful small business
  • The local economic landscape and its impact on small business
  • How networking, collaboration and cooperation can leverage your business
  • Resource sustainability - minimising business risks and maximising business opportunities
  • Case study examples of successful sustainable businesses
  • Strategic sustainability and business planning
  • Building business and economic resilience for future challenges


Networking lunch - meet other local business owners and operators

Afternoon session - Guest speakers from local industry;  AusIndustry; and the Environmental Protection Agency will provide insight to the new ecoBiz Program for small and office based businesses.
