Ethos Foundation – introduction

The Ethos Foundation is a not for profit sustainability learning and earthcare organisation. The Foundation’s mission is to cultivate effective new thinking, values and action for positive, ecologically sustainable futures. The Ethos Foundation also operates a consulting service that works with progressive governments and government departments, commercial and corporate operations, small to medium enterprises and not for profit and community-based organisations and networks. Recent major consulting projects include the development and implementation of the communications strategy for Gold Coast Water’s Recycled Water Strategy (2006-08), development of the 2007-2011 Business Plan for Gold Coast City Council’s Natural Areas Management Unit, and the development of the communications strategy and business plan for the Gold Coast Water Infrastructure Planning Division (2005-06). The Ethos Foundation is well-positioned as a leader in South East Queensland’s sustainability education sector and has hosted many sustainability events and learning programs as well as facilitated training and workshops. Highlights in 2007 included the 5-day residential program and 1-day industry/government think tank “Transforming Energy” attended by more than 120 business, community and government leaders; and a 1-day climate change leadership think-tank held at Queensland Government House on 29 August 2007 attended by more than 180 regional leaders. The Ethos Foundation has collaborated with many residents, organisations and businesses to help develop a number of Beechmont and shire-based community projects in the Beaudesert Shire during 2005-07. These have included the founding and coordination of the Beechmont Business and Enterprise Network; development of the Beechmont Business and Enterprise Directory; creation of Beaudesert Shire Council’s “Turning Down the Heat” sustainability brochure; and development of the current popular organic food and farming workshop series “Local Food for Local Folks”. The Ethos Foundation draws on the experience and inspiration of a range of talented people and experts to provide services for large and small organisations and commercial enterprises.
